A 29-year-old man from Copley, Ohio was arraigned in Ohio’s Barberton Municipal Court for allegedly ordering his pet pit bull to attack his father, leaving him with personal injuries.
On July 13, Jaquar Richardson entered a plea of not guilty to charges of domestic violence, aggravated menacing, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
According to 47-year-old Akron, Ohio resident Karen James, she and Richardson’s father, 49-year-old Akron resident Christopher Gibson, had gotten into an argument with Richardson on July 11 because he had borrowed her car at 10:30 a.m. the day before to go to the store and did not return until 3 a.m.
James said that during the dispute, Richardson chased her from the apartment before ordering the dog to attack Gibson.
Gibson, who the dog bit on the knee, confirmed James’ story.
Reportedly, as police were speaking with the trio, Richardson charged at Gibson.
Police placed Richardson under arrest and gave him the opportunity to call someone to care for the dog. He refused and the dog was turned over to the custody of the Humane Society of Greater Akron.
