Lumberton Man Killed In Hit-And-Run

Late on July 25, a man from Robeson County died of the personal injuries he suffered when he was hit by a vehicle while walking.

According to North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper M.J. Miles, 20-year-old Lumberton resident Clayton Adam Carter was pronounced dead at the scene after a vehicle hit him at approximately 11:45 p.m.

Miles says the vehicle failed to stop after the strike and investigators currently have no leads on the make or model.

Miles said that passers-by discovered Carter’s body in the roadway and called 911, but he had already died by the time emergency personnel arrived.

Miles said the hit-and-run took place along N.C. 72 near the intersection of Carson Avenue.
