Knightdale Man Faces Further Charges In Fatal Raleigh Crash
Raleigh police said that a man from Knightdale is faced with new charges in connection to an April 14 crash in which a retired Wake County school teacher suffered fatal personal injuries.
On April 19, 24-year-old Lauren Everett-Justin Avery surrendered to police on a misdemeanor charge of death by motor vehicle, according to police spokesman Jim Sughrue.
According to police, Avery ran a red light on Capital Boulevard at Brentwood Road and collided with a car driven by 63-year-old Raleigh resident Wade Judson Harward Jr. Harward was taken to WakeMed, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police initially charged Avery with a red light violation.
Harward graduated from Millbrook High School and North Carolina State University. He taught at Ligon Middle School, Garner High School, Enloe High School, and Wake Technical Community College, according to his obituary.
