The parents of a 38-yaer-old single female nurse filed a wrongful death suit against the defendant after a head-on collision they were involved in. The female was driving her vehicle when the defendant crossed the centerline and hit her head on in Cleveland County, NC. She was able to use her cell phone to call for help. But because she was trapped in her car and her injuries were so severe, she died within an hour on scene.
The plaintiff’s alleged that the defendant failed to maintain a proper lane of travel and that the defendant’s negligence was the direct and proximate cause of their daughter’s death. The defendant agreed to settle the case.
The alleged injuries were blunt force trauma that cause massive internal injuries and fracture that resulted in death with approximately one hour of conscious survival time.
On May 4th, 2010 a settlement of $1,675,000 was awarded to the plaintiff’s.
