Injury Attorney Raleigh - Baby Murder and Fayetteville Child Abuse

The Raleigh baby who suffered injuries inflicted by his father from Selma, Christopher Childers, 28, died shortly after officials discovered the 5-month-old was the victim of Shaken-Baby Syndrome. Child abuse charges were originally filed, however Childers is now being charged with murder.

In a string of unrelated events, fathers around NC are being accused of murdering or inflicting harm on their children. A Holly Springs man, Carlos Murray, 23, was charged with two counts of intentional child abuse after he allegedly held his 7-month-old son under water in a bath tub. Murray’s child also exhibited symptoms of Shaken-Baby Syndrome. Another Raleigh father, fifty-seven-year-old David Kizer, was accused of inflicting second-degree burns on his teenage child.

How can you protect kids from child abuse?

• If your child is old enough, talk about child abuse with them. Explain that abuse comes in many forms, not just bruises. Bullies, and in more recent years—cyber bullies, inflict harm on self-esteem.
• Get to know your children’s friends and their friends’ parents.
• Make sure you know where your child is at all times.

Child abuse can cause physical, emotional and psychological harm. Three million cases of child abuse are filed each year, according to the Boy Scouts of America. Reports also show that the majority of abuse cases are inflicted to children by someone they know and trust. Raleigh child abuse attorneys at Brent Adams & Associates help families or loved ones of children who have been hurt by child abuse or neglect.
