Infant Dies In Apparent Attack By Rottweiler

A 7-month-old girl from Frankfort, Maine has died of the personal injuries she suffered in an apparent attack by the family's dog.

The child, Annabelle Mitchell, was found dead in her family's living room after her mother, Katrina Mitchell, called 911 to report that the family's Rottweiler was attacking the girl.

Maine State Police said the child was at home with her mother and 2-and-a-half-year-old brother when the incident took place.

At the request of the child's father, John Mitchell, a deputy from the Waldo County, Maine sheriff's office fatally shot the dog.

The incident remains under investigation.
