Hit-And-Run Suspect Killed In Separate Accident Moments Later

North Carolina state troopers say that a suspect in a hit-and-run collision on Interstate 40 West suffered fatal personal injuries after being hit while running across the eastbound lanes of I-40 East on November 20.

Clayton resident Daniel Molina was fatally struck by a car on I-40 East, near Airport Boulevard, at about 10:30 p.m. The driver, who was only identified as a Virginia resident, was not charged.

Troopers say Molina was believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run that had occurred a few minutes prior in the westbound lanes of I-40. No serious injuries were reported in that collision.
