Hit And Run Accident Claims Life
An accident involving two vehicles left one man dead and the other man wanted Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred when a van crossed the centerline on Main Street at Harper House Road in Newton Grove and hit Ronald Viehweger of Mount Olive operating a motorcycle.
According to Newton Grove Police Chief Frankie Harrell, the vehicles hit head-on, burst into flames and were destroyed.
Viehweger was thrown from the motorcycle and died.
After impact, the driver of the van, who was Hispanic, jumped from the van and got into a vehicle that was a couple of cars behind him. According to witnesses, the man appeared to be injured.
The man is being sought on a list of charges. Several of these charges are felonies.
The accident is being investigated.
