Head-On Collision With SUV Claims Cary Motorcyclist
A man from Cary suffered fatal personal injuries on the morning of August 24 in a head-on collision between an SUV and a motorcycle.
According to town spokeswoman Deanna Boone, the motorcycle was northbound on Davis Drive when it was struck by a southbound SUV that was turning left onto Waldo Rood Boulevard.
The motorcycle’s operator, 54-year-old Tomoichi Martin Cummings, received transport to Duke University Hospital, but was later pronounced dead there.
Boone said that according to an initial investigation, the driver of the SUV, 80-year-old Cary resident Doris Yates Upchurch, was at fault. Charges are pending.
It was not immediately clear if rain had been a factor in the accident.
