A woman died and a man sustained personal injuries in a collision on the night of December 11.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said 41-year-old Hubert resident Robbie Elizabeth Brown was pronounced dead at the scene after a head-on collision with 27-year-old Morehead City resident Kerry Guy Lupton on N.C. 24.
Brown was westbound on N.C. 24 at about 10 p.m. in a 2001 Hyundai when Lupton, eastbound in a GMC pickup truck pulling a utility trailer, crossed the center turn land and struck Brown “headlight to headlight,” according to Trooper Gene Johnson.
Johnson said Lupton’s vehicle overturned, but came to rest on its wheels. Brown’s vehicle spun 180 degrees.
Johnson said that Brown died upon impact.
Lupton received transport to Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City and was released after treatment.
Johnson said that charges will be filed after the district attorney is consulted.
