Goldsboro Woman Killed In Crash Near Newton Grove

A woman from Goldsboro suffered fatal personal injuries on the night of February 5 when she lost control of her vehicle, which collided with a parked car on U.S. 13 near Midway Elementary School, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.

According to a report filed by Trooper D.K. Pearson, the accident was reported shortly after 11 p.m. and occurred approximately eight and a half miles west of Newton Grove.

The report said that 58-year-old Sarah Lilley Joyner was eastbound on U.S. 13 when her 2007 Kia ran off the road to the right, reentered the road, crossed the center line, and collided with a 1994 Toyota registered to Fayetteville resident Leonard Lewis.

Joyner received transport to Sampson Regional Medical Center, where she later died.
