Godwin Man Killed in Accident
Godwin Man Killed in Accident
A Godwin man was killed in an accident that occurred yesterday morning at the intersection of U.S. 55 and Green Path Road.
According to a witness, Percy Strickland, driving an Oldsmobile Cutlass, ran a stop sign on Green Path Road. The witness, Thomas Matthews, stated that Strickland never applied his brakes.
Little-Katie Garcia, driving a Taurus LX struck the back left of Strickland’s vehicle.
The impact caused Strickland’s vehicle to spin out of control, flip and come to rest approximately 60 feet down Green Path Road upside down.
Garcia’s vehicle spun and ended up in a ditch on U.S. 55.
Martin Hernandez was a passenger in Garcia’s vehicle.
All three people involved in the accident were taken to Betsy Johnson Hospital with what was believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Strickland later died.
