Gastonia Man Suffers 60 Bite Wounds In Pit Bull Attack

On October 21, 51-year-old Gastonia resident Michael Quinn went to a friend’s house to do some yard work. However, there were times he wasn’t sure he was going to leave alive. While working, a loose pit bull from a neighboring yard attacked him, leaving him with serious personal injuries.

Quinn suffered more than 60 puncture wounds to his legs, buttocks, midsection, and arms in the attack. The dog was chained in a neighboring backyard surrounded by a chain-link fence, but Gaston County Animal Control says a clamp on the end of the chain broke loose.

The dog spotted Quinn and forced its way through a gap between the fence and the ground, dragging its untethered chain behind it as it chased him down.

The dog’s owner, 32-year-old Christopher Williams, was charged by Gaston County Animal Control with a leash law violation.

According to Gaston County Animal Shelter administrator Reggie Horton, the dog was registered and had up-to-date rabies shots. It was temporarily quarantined at the shelter pending a “dangerous animal” hearing, which would result in it being seized from the owner.

Reportedly, Williams told WSOC-TV that the same dog attacked and bit a female friend inside his home in an earlier incident.
