Lead paint was found at Ridoutt's Daycare Center in Garner, NC recently. This past summer, after 60 years of providing childcare services to the greater Raleigh area, Ridoutt Daycare Center was closed after an inspection discovered the tainted paint. Test results just came back and reported that none of the children suffered lead poisoning.
NC Children Exposed to Lead Paint
Both the infant and kitchen areas of the daycare facility contained hazardous levels of lead paint. In WRAL reports, one of the former employees, Christy Harris, noticed headaches and stomachaches among the daycare staff over her nine-year employment there. She also said the kids were always sick. While employed at Ridoutt's Harris was pregnant and her daughter later attended the day care. Her daughter suffered fevers and more asthma attacks while at the facility, and everything subsided after she stopped attending. Oddly enough, the daycare center received the highest sanitation score possible from Wake County Environmental Services just before the flakey paint raised suspicions.
Dangers of Lead Exposure
Lead poisoning, especially for children, can lead to learning and behavioral disorders. The federal government outlawed lead paint in 1978, but old buildings-homes and businesses-are still occupied today. A personal injury attorney can help you with your case against a facility's negligent property care. Pain and suffering, medical bills and long-term impairments are compensable for victims. If you suspect your child or a child you know has been exposed to lead paint, have them tested immediately. An attorney at Brent Adams & Associates will negotiate with insurance companies and help make your case as strong as possible.
