A man has filed a personal injury suit against his former employer, claiming that he suffered serious neck injuries while attempting to lift a heavy object as part of his job duties.
According to Gary Crissman, on December 19, he was lifting and carrying heavy pieces of furniture as part of his duties for Burris Transfer and Storage Co. when he suffered a severe neck injury that required surgery. He filed suit in Texas’ Jefferson County District Court on September 28.
Crissman claims that due to the incident, he experienced severe physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, permanent impairment, and physical disfigurement. He also claims medical expenses and lost wages.
The suit alleges negligence on the part of Burris Transfer for failure to properly train Crissman on how to safely perform his job duties, failure to provide proper supervision, failure to provide Crissman with proper tools, and failure to employ a sufficient number of co-workers.
Crissman says he is eligible to file the claim because Burris Transfer is a non-subscriber to workers’ compensation.
