Fuquay-Varina Woman Imprisoned In Connection To Fatal December Wreck
A Fuquay-Varina woman was arrested and placed in Wake County Jail on the morning of May 6 after police say she allegedly aided a man in fleeing from an automobile accident in which fatal personal injuries were suffered in December.
The woman, 22-year-old Courtney Nateshia Surles, has also been accused of helping the man get medical treatment at WakeMed in Raleigh through the use of a stolen identity.
Surles is facing charges of accessory after the fact of second-degree murder, felony conspiracy, and aiding and abetting in obtaining property under false pretenses, according to the arrest warrants. Her bail was set at $50,000.
The charges are in connection to a crash in Fuquay-Varina on December 26 in which Aaron Lameak Hester-Bey died.
Arrest warrants say that Surles drove Jerjuan Orion Brooks away from the scene of the crash. Brooks was subsequently charged with second-degree murder in connection to the fatal wreck.
