Fuquay-Varina Man Killed In Harnett Crash
A man from Fuquay-Varina suffered fatal personal injuries in a single-vehicle accident on Rawls Church Road in Harnett County on April 3, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident took place about 11 miles north of Lillington shortly before 1:30 p.m., according to a report filed by Trooper J.E. Stahl.
Stahl's report said that 39-year-old Mark Shannon Jones was westbound in a 2010 Ford sport utility vehicle and ran off the road to the right. Jones steered back onto the road, but the vehicle ran off to the right again and struck a bridge railing.
Jones was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle, which was traveling at an estimated rate of speed of 65 mph at the time of the accident, according to the report.
Jones received transport to WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, where he was later pronounced dead.
