
Frozen yellow fin tuna with best-by dates of December 5, 2010 are being recalled by Whole Foods Market because they may have high levels of histamine. High levels of histamine can cause an allergic reaction called scombroid poisoning. Some of the symptoms of this poisoning are facial swelling, tingling or burning sensation in the mouth, rash, hives and itchy skin, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. There have been two incidents that have been reported.
The fish was sold in a number of states. They are Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Michigan, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, Connecticut, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Maine and Washington D.C.
