A motorcyclist from Four Oaks suffered fatal personal injuries in a traffic accident while on his way to a motorcycle-safety class on the morning of October 9, according to North Carolina State Troopers.
Troopers said that 37-year-old Stacy Glenn Pittman was southbound on College Road in Smithfield on a Kawaski motorcycle when a black Nissan Pathfinder driven by 25-year-old Smithfield resident Brianna Solomon turned left into an entrance to Johnston County Community College.
The Nissan hit the front of the bike and both it and Pittman went partially under the SUV, troopers said. Pittman was ejected from the bike. He died at the scene.
Troopers charged Solomon with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to yield the right of way. Speed and alcohol are not considered to have been factors.
The accident took place approximately 500 feet from Pittman’s destination.
Troopers handled the investigation due to Solomon being married to a Smithfield police officer.
