Four Injured When Car Hits Fayetteville City Bus

Four passengers on a city bus in Fayetteville sustained personal injuries on the morning of January 3 when a car collided with the bus at the intersection of Grove Street and B Street, according to police.

The accident occurred shortly after 7 a.m.

According to Police spokesman Sgt. John Somerindyke, 72-year-old Fayetteville resident Shirley Tidwell Frederick was eastbound on Grove Street in a Toyota when she drove into the intersection and collided with a Fayetteville Area System of Transit bus driven by 50-year-old Joann Monique Nugent.

Four people received transport to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.

Somerindyke said Frederick was charged with running a red light.
