Four people suffered serious personal injuries in an automobile accident in Fayetteville on March 15, after the vehicle they were traveling in collided with a sign support, authorities say.
As of that same night, police had not released the names of the individuals involved. They received transport to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where they were listed in critical condition, said the Fayetteville Police Department. According to reports, at least one passenger was trapped in the vehicle for 30 minutes.
The crash occurred shortly before 6:30 p.m. at Yadkin and Lancaster roads. Authorities say the 1999 Volkswagen the four were traveling in was trying to pass another vehicle. The Volkswagen’s driver lost control of the vehicle and hit a 2007 Mazda before running off the right side of the road and hitting a sign support. The Mazda’s driver was released after undergoing treatment.
