Fort Bragg Soldier Killed In Motorcycle Crash Identified

Authorities have identified a Fort Bragg soldier who suffered fatal personal injuries on the afternoon of September 11 when he lost control of his motorcycle while exiting Interstate 40 as 25-year-old Fayetteville resident Edwin Ramos.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that Ramos was eastbound on I-40 shortly before 4:30 p.m. when the brakes on his motorcycle locked while he was exiting onto the U.S. 70 Clayton Bypass. The bike collided with the guardrail and Ramos was ejected.

Ramos received transport to WakeMed in Raleigh, where he was later pronounced dead.

In a fatal motorcycle crash earlier in September, a paratrooper from the 82nd Airborne Division died in an accident in Vass in Moore County. The victim in that crash, which took place on September 4, 33-year-old St. Paul, Minnesota native Staff Sgt. Antonio Almendarez was killed.
