Former Caswell County Mennonite Family Members Killed In Accident
Members of a close-knit Mennonite community prepared to bury their own who died in an accident. The
family of nine was killed in an accident in central Kentucky.
John and Sadie Esh were two of the 11 people who lost their lives Friday due to a tractor-trailer crossing an interstate & hitting the family van head-on. The family was traveling to Iowa to attend a wedding.
The Ash family moved from Caswell County, N.C. in 2001
The preliminary investigation revealed the tractor-trailer left the road and crossed a cable barrier in the median before hitting the van.
Also killed in the accident was the driver of the truck, Kenneth Laymon, 45, of Alabama.
The only survivors were two boys the couple had adopted as babies from Guatemala. Both children Josiah, 5, and Johnny, 3, were secured in child safety seats.
