Five Injured in Fiery Wreck

Five Injured in Fiery Wreck

 

Five people were injured in a fiery crash between a van and a convertible on Shaw Mill Road in Fayetteville, Friday morning.

 

Victor Sassoon lost control of his 2004 Mazda Miata coming out of a curve and collided head-on with a Ford Econoline van.

 

Sassoon was ejected from his vehicle, prior to the Miata bursting into flames. He suffered severe head, neck and facial injuries. Sassoon was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and later transferred to UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, where he is listed in critical condition.

 

The driver of the van, Michael Freeman, was also treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

 

Passengers in the van - James Smith, Sidney Reid and Al Vincent also sustained in juries.

 

According to a report from the Fayetteville Police Department, speed was a factor in the wreck.
