Fayetteville Woman Attacked By Pit Bulls

A woman from Fayetteville received hospital transport on August 2 for the personal injuries she suffered when she was attacked by a pair of pit bulls.

According to what 47-year-old Phyllis Ward told police, she was walking on Patton Drive, near Grooms Street, when she was attacked by the dogs.

Ward sustained multiple bite wounds and received transport to an area hospital to undergo treatment.

Police say that upon arrival, one of the dogs attempted to attack the responding officers and was shot. It was later found dead in woods nearby. The dog had no identification tags and was retrieved by animal control.

Police were continuing to search for the other dog as of that afternoon.
