Fayetteville police said that a Fayetteville woman and her two dogs suffered fatal personal injuries on the morning of January 24 after her sport utility vehicle ran off Rosehill Road, collided head-on with a bridge support, and caught fire.
The accident occurred shortly after midnight in the curve of the road near the back side of Lafayette Memorial Gardens.
Fayetteville police spokesman Sgt. Eric Dow said that 33-year-old Amy Lynn Zinsser was driving north in a 2002 Ford Explorer when she lost control of the vehicle and ran off the road to the right. The SUV collided with a pole and ran off the road to the left before colliding head-on with a bridge support and igniting.
Fayetteville Fire Department battalion commander Richard Bradshaw said that the vehicle was already engulfed in flames upon the arrival of firefighters. He said Zinsser was pinned inside the vehicle and required cutting out.
Dow said that Zinsser died at the scene.
