Fayetteville Traffic Fatalities Triple

According to statistics from the Fayetteville Police Department, deaths from personal injuries suffered in traffic accidents in the city tripled within the first seven months of 2009 in comparison to the same period during 2008.

According to Sgt. Eric Dow, head of the Fayetteville P.D.’s Traffic Enforcement division, during the period between January 1 and July 31, 19 people died in 18 crashes on Fayetteville roads in comparison to six deaths in the same period a year ago.

The number of traffic fatalities includes vehicle drivers, motorcycle and moped operators, and pedestrians.

The total number of traffic-related deaths in Fayetteville has already surpassed the total of 17 reported for the entire year of 2008.
