The crash occurred shortly after 7:30 a.m. at the Stamper Road intersection.
According to Fayetteville Police spokeswoman Theresa Chance, Officer Sheila Thomas was northbound on Bragg Boulevard, attempting to stop a car that was being driven in a reckless manner.
Chance said that Thomas had activated her vehicle’s blue lights and siren during the chase.
