A man from Fayetteville died of the personal injuries he suffered on March 11 in a collision between his car and a Coca-Cola truck on Carl Freeman Road.
According to Trooper J.B. Jones of the North Carolina Highway Patrol, 47-year-old Harold Emmett Lewis II died at the scene of the accident, which took place shortly before 8 a.m.
Jones said that Lewis was traveling northeast and lost control of the PT Cruiser he was driving and ran off the road. The vehicle reentered the road, crossed into the southwest lane, and entered the path of a Coca-Cola Inc. distribution truck driven by 28-year-old Donald Keith Naylor. Naylor swerved into the northeast lane in an attempt to avoid a collision, but Lewis had pulled his vehicle back into the northeast lane.
Jones said that the truck impacted the PT Cruiser on the driver’s side door. He said speed was not believed to have been a factor in the crash.
