Father Of Family Injured In Sanford Accident Dies

The father of a family who all suffered personal injuries in a head-on collision in Lee County on August 7 has died, according to a statement from officials on August 11.

On the night of the accident, a Chevrolet Blazer driven by Sebastian Talley crossed the center line on N.C. Highway 87 at Winstead Road and collided head-on with an oncoming Ford F250 pickup truck.

According to UNC Hospitals spokesman Tom Hughes, the pickup’s driver, 40-year-old Wayne Fausz, was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Two passengers in the pickup, 15-year-old Nathaniel Fausz and 9-year-old Autumn Fausz, remained in the hospital as of August 11. Nathaniel was listed in critical condition, but Autumn was listed in good condition.

Another passenger, 34-year-old Natasha Fausz, received transport to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford after the accident. Her condition has not yet been made available.

Talley, a Cameron resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities say he apparently fell asleep while driving.
