Fatal Raleigh Collision Caused By Driver Running Red Light
A man from Raleigh suffered fatal personal injuries on the evening of April 14 when his truck was struck on the broadside by a truck that ran a red light on Capital Boulevard, Raleigh police said.
The victim, 63-year-old Wade Judson Harward Jr., had just begun to cross Capital Boulevard from Brentwood Road when the Toyota he was driving was struck on the driver's side by a rental truck driven by 24-year-old Knightdale resident Lauren Everett-Just Avery.
Harward received transport to WakeMed in Raleigh, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police said Avery was traveling at an estimated rate of 45 mph when the collision took place. He was cited for a red light violation.
Police said the accident, which took place around 3 p.m., remains under investigation.
