A female rider on a motorcycle suffered fatal personal injuries in a two-vehicle crash on the afternoon of April 20 in Corolla.
The motorcycle was on N.C. 12 at around 2:45 p.m. when the operator lost control, crossed the center line, and collided with a van headed in the opposite direction, according to Trooper K.L. Freeman of the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The woman, a passenger on the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The motorcycle’s driver received transport to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Virginia with a broken pelvis. No other injuries were reported.
Freeman said the names of the people on the motorcycle could not yet be released as their families, who live in New York, had not yet been notified.
