Fatal Hit and Run Driver Charged
Gavin C. Hawk of Dunn was charged with felony hit-and-run causing the death of Ian K. Quick in Raleigh.
The SUV driven by Hawk struck the mo-ped driven by Quick on Interstate 40.
A search for a yellow Nissan Xterra with damage to the front-end resulted in the arrest of Hawk.
Quick was an employee at The Raleigh Times.
After slitting his wrist while in custody at the Wake County Jail, Hawk was taken to WakeMed.
