Fatal Crash On Interstate 40
A two-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 40 between I-540 and Airport Boulevard has caused one person to suffer fatal personal injuries and resulted in traffic being backed up for several miles.
The accident took place at around 1:30 p.m. and caused two of the four traffic lanes to be blocked. One car involved in the crash overturned. A body was extracted from that vehicle by responders.
Additional information, including the name of the deceased person, has not yet been released by the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
