Fatal Accident In Statesville

One man suffered fatal personal injuries in a single-vehicle crash on N.C. 3 near Dale Earnhardt Inc. in Statesville on the afternoon of April 6.

According to Trooper D.J. Reid of the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the deceased man’s identity has not yet been released because his next-of-kin had not yet been notified. However, Reid did say that the man was not a North Carolina resident.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. the 2007 Honda Accord the man was driving ran off the road to the right, according to Reid. He overcorrected, causing the car to cross the center line and run off the road to the left, where it struck an embankment and overturned multiple times.

Reid said the driver was the only person in the vehicle and was wearing his seat belt.
