Family of N.C. Worker Killed In Construction Accident Files Suit
The family of a worker who suffered fatal personal injuries during the construction of a new bridge to a town in coastal North Carolina has filed a negligence suit against the state Department of Transportation and its contractors.
According to a report in The Star News of Wilmington, the suit was filed on October 23 by the family of Jose Montalvo.
On December 3, Montalvo died after a beam to which he had been tethered collapsed and crushed him.
The attorney for Montalvo’s family is questioning whether or not enough safeguards were in place and whether the $37 million project, a bridge to Oak Island, had adequate oversight.
