Family Files Suit For Pit Bull Attack

A woman who sustained personal injuries after a 2006 pit bull attack has filed suit against the owners, alleging irreparable harm caused by the attack.

According to court documents, Kasey Czapla was sitting on the floor of her friend’s Windsor, Colorado home on March 18, 2006 when she was attacked by a pit bull named “Munch,” receiving several bites to her right hand.

According to Czapla, whose parents, Steve and Jody Czapla, are also listed as plaintiffs, there was no warning signs, such as a growl or bark, before she was attacked. The attack caused her to suffer lacerations to her hand and a fracture to her finger. The suit also alleges that another person had previously been bitten by the dog, meaning that the owners were aware of his “vicious” tendencies.

According to court documents, the attack took place before Czapla was 18-years-old, so a portion of the medical costs was incurred by her parents.

According to Czapla’s attorney, the dog was not put down and it took two years for the cased to be filed due to medical treatment.
