Elementary Teacher Critically Injured In Huntersville Crash

An elementary school teacher and another driver suffered personal injuries in a head-on collision in Huntersville on the morning of January 21. The crash took place at approximately 7 a.m. on Highway 73 near Brown Mill Road.

According to a spokesman for the Huntersville Police Department, a 25-year-old woman who teaches at Southlake Christian Academy was westbound on Highway 73. At the same time, a 19-year-old man was eastbound on the same round. Their vehicles collided head-on.

The woman sustained critical injuries in the crash and received transport to Carolinas Medical Center. Her name has yet to be released by police.

The other driver, whose injuries were not as serious, received transport to Presbyterian Main.

Police say there were no other occupants in either vehicle.

According to eyewitnesses, both vehicles were traveling at an estimated speed of 55 mph when the man’s truck crossed the center line and hit the Pontiac Grand Am the woman was driving.

Police say there was no indication of alcohol or drugs being involved.
