Durham Mom Shoots Pit Bull After Daughter Is Bitten On The Face

A North Carolina mom who shot a pit bull after it attacked her daughter is now facing animal cruelty charges and gun charges in Durham. The woman, who was watching to aggressive dog for a friend, said that the dog had bit her daughter’s face and was about to attack her husband when she fatally shot the dog.

According to Carolina Live, Tasheka Beatty’s 2-year-old daughter was taken to the hospital and will have to have reconstructive surgery on her face after suffering a serious dog bite wound.

Durham Police said that the woman left the critically injured dog outside all night after shooting it and only called 911 the next day. Beatty said that she called animal control but did not receive a response. She is being charged with discharging a firearm in public and with animal cruelty. She said that she feels the charges are too harsh for someone that was protecting her family.
