Driver Injured When Car Overturns Near Fayetteville

Personal injuries were involved when a Hyundai Accent ended up on its roof in the median of Interstate 295 after a single-vehicle accident near Fayetteville on the afternoon of May 9.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol said the female driver, whose identity was not immediately made available, lost control while driving south towards Interstate 95.

The car ran off the road, damaged a section of cable dividing the median, and came to rest on its roof near a storm drain.

During the crash, the front axle snapped, resulting in one of the front wheels coming off of the car.

Eastover firefighters responding to the scene saw the driver crawling from the vehicle, according to Trooper J.E. Belcher. She was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
