Driver Charged With Hitting Elon Student Was On Probation For Fatal 2008 Crash

A driver charged with hitting and causing personal injuries to an Elon College student on September 15 was already on probation for a deadly hit-and-run that occurred in 2008.

According to investigators, 26-year-old Toorialey Fazley was struck by Robin Stanfield Ragsdale while riding a bicycle to class. Ragsdale then fled the scene.

As of September 16, Fazley was listed in stable condition at Duke University Medical Center.

Ragsdale was found guilty of four counts of misdemeanor death by motor vehicle after an accident in which she struck and killed four people in 2008. She was given a suspended sentence of 45 days for each charge and five years’ probation. Her license was suspended, but was returned in March 2009.
