Driver Charged With Hit-And-Run In Fatal Raleigh Crash
Raleigh police say the driver in a single-vehicle crash on Lumley Road in which a man suffered fatal personal injuries on January 17 has been charged with felony hit-and-run.
According to police, at approximately 2 a.m., a vehicle collided with a utility pole along Lumley Road, near Mount Herman Road, killing the 24-year-old passenger, Daniel Allan Blan.
Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said that the driver, 24-year-old Jason Raymond Butler, fled the scene before police arrived.
Police conducted an investigation, which yielded the driver’s identity, and an arrest warrant was issued for Butler. He surrendered to the authorities on January 23 and was placed in Wake County Jail, according to Sughrue. He was released on $10,000 bond.
