Driver Charged In Fatal High Point Crash
The driver of a vehicle that crashed on October 2 resulting in one of his passengers dying and two others suffering personal injuries has now been charged.
A grand jury in Guilford County has handed up indictments against 23-year-old Ryan Lamont McKiver, charging him with second-degree murder, felonious assault by motor vehicle, and assault with a deadly weapon.
Police said that at the time of the crash, McKiver was speeding and had consumed alcohol. The crash occurred shortly before 3 a.m. along North Scientific Street in High Point.
Police say McKiver lost control of the vehicle, which ran off the road and struck a utility pole and a tree.
One of the passengers, 21-year-old Suquan Rogers died in the crash. McKiver and two others sustained injuries in the crash.
