Police said that on April 29, a Nashville man surrendered to police for charges connected to an April 25 crash in which a moped rider suffered fatal personal injuries.
According to police, 46-year-old Raleigh resident Bruce Robert Herrmann was traveling north on a moped on Capital Boulevard when he slowed for traffic near Sumner Boulevard, and was struck from behind by a 2007 Ford pickup truck driven by 43-year-old Gilbert Allen Moore. The impact forced the moped into the back of a 2002 Acura and across the entrance to a parking lot.
Herrmann died of the injuries he suffered in the crash.
Police initially cited Moore for failure to reduce speed, but after consulting the Wake County District Attorney's Office, they also charged him with misdemeanor death by vehicle.
