Dog Attacks, Kills 2-Month-Old

A 2-month-old boy in Oahu, Hawaii is dead from the personal injuries he sustained in a mauling by a mixed-breed family dog.

According to Police Major Frank Fujii, the 31-year-old mother of the child was also bitten and injured and received transport to the hospital where she was listed in stable condition on October 5.

There was another unidentified adult injured in the attack, but that victim was not sent to the hospital.

The case has been classified by police as an unattended death.

According to Kawehi Yim, spokeswoman for the Hawaiian Humane Society, there were approximately 240 reports of dog bites and cases of potentially dangerous dogs in Oahu in 2007.
