Dispute Over Damages After Rear-End Collision

The Plaintiff, Joyce Sims was stopped at a yield sign waiting to merge onto a highway in Raleigh, when she was rear-ended by the Defendant, Michael Lewis. The collision had a low to medium impact.

Ms. Sims alleged that the defendant failed to keep a proper lookout and was following too closely. Her alleged injuries were soft tissue injuries to her neck and back and forth claimed that she suffered an ulcer as a result of the medication given to her in the emergency room. The defendant admitted liability, but contested the plaintiff’s damages.

A Wake County jury returned a verdict to Ms. Sims in the amount of $10,000 on January 19, 2010.
