Diesel Truck Overturns, Causes Spill In Wade

The driver sustained personal injuries when a tanker truck carrying some 2,500 gallons of diesel fuel rolled into a ditch along River Road in Wade, according to the Wade Community Fire Department. A hazardous materials response team was dispatched to the scene.

Assistant Fire Chief Danny Hill said that the truck had been travelling on River Road when the driver, whose identity was not immediately made available, lost control and the truck rolled into the ditch, coming to rest on its wheels.

Hill said firefighters were called to the scene around 12:30 p.m. The truck’s driver received transport to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center for unknown injuries.

The owner of the truck, Clinton-based Ecno Oil Inc., responded and transferred the truck’s diesel onto another vehicle.

The damaged truck was towed from the scene and the Fayetteville Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Response Team cleaned up the spill, which Hill said appeared to be small.

The wreck’s cause has not yet been determined.
