Cumberland County Accident Injures Five
A two-car collision on October 17 on southbound Interstate 95 in Cumberland County resulted in five people being sent to hospitals in the area for personal injuries and caused traffic to be backed up briefly.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said that New York resident Diane Fagione swerved across both lanes, clipped another car, and ran off the road to the right. The other vehicle overturned and landed in the median.
Fagione and her passenger, New York resident Andrew Hildebrandt, were uninjured in the crash.
All five occupants of the other vehicle, a Whiteville family whose identities were not immediately made available, received transport to hospitals in the area.
Fagione was charged with failure to maintain lane control and reckless operation of a vehicle.
