Columbus Van Crash Claims Lives of Two

Two men lost their lives when a Columbus County Transportation van pulled into the path of an SUV on N.C. 904 Monday evening.

Robert C. Richardson, driver, of Whiteville and Bennie L. Giles, passenger, of Tabor City were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Henry T. Norris, driving a GMC Yukon, and his three small children were injured. They were transported to the hospital in Loris, S.C. for treatment.

Richardson appeared to have stopped for a stop sign at N.C. 904 before pulling into the path of Norris.

The Yukon slammed into the side of the Toyota van, driven by Richardson, crushing it.
