Collision Claims Life of Infant
A 4-month old child was killed in an accident on Monday afternoon on U.S. 301 near Wade.
Mary Sangster of Hope Mills was driving a station wagon north on U.S. 301 and attempting to make a left turn onto Rich Walker Road. Her 4-month old baby and 4-year old child were passengers in her vehicle. Both children were in child restraint seats.
John Cain of Stedman was operating a pickup on U.S. 301 north. Cain swerved to the left to avoid a collision, but rear-ended Sangster’s vehicle.
Both vehicles ran off the road and over-turned.
The accident is being investigated by the N.C. Highway Patrol.
